Scholarship Program
The community foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships for students like you, provided by the generosity of local donors. Whether you are a high school senior, a current college student, or a non-traditional student we work with donors to help people like you take the next step in your education.

How to Start the Scholarship Process
Create an account on our Scholarship Portal
3 minUsing an email address that you will have access to after you graduate from high school.
Take the Eligibility Assessment
10-20 minThis assessment will match you with scholarship opportunities based on the answers you provided.
- The eligibility assessment is available from November 1 to February 15th.
Complete Scholarship Applications
Complete the scholarship application for each of the opportunities you are eligible for.
Already Applied?
Log into the scholarship portal to view the status of your applications. You will be notified of a decision through the scholarship portal in early April.
Need to Renew your Scholarship?
In April and May, you will be assigned a renewal form in the scholarship portal. Each scholarship has its own renewal criteria that you must meet to receive your renewal scholarship check.
You have been awarded a scholarship, now what?
First, Congratulations! The next step is to accept your scholarship award by completing the Scholarship Acceptance Form that has been assigned to you in your scholarship portal. This form will provide the information needed to send your scholarship check to the school you will be attending. In this form, you will also be asked to complete a thank you letter for the donor who made this scholarship possible.
If there have been any changes in your education plans, please let us know as soon as possible as this could affect your scholarship.
Generous community members who hold funds in our service area have established scholarships to make education more accessible for students in our region. These scholarships reflect a deep commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
Scholarship Funds & Criteria
Amos & Joyce Blecha 4-H Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors from a Republic County, KS, high school involved in 4-H
Bruce Bowersox Memorial Scholarship
- Graduating Republic County High School seniors planning to major in engineering
Clara Dowell Legacy Scholarship
- Female graduate or female student qualifying for graduation from a high school in Republic County, Kansas or a non-traditional student living in Republic County, Kansas
Clarence Goppert Family Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors or graduates of a high school in Republic County, KS planning to pursue a post-secondary education in Kansas
Florea Family Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors from a Republic County, KS, high school planning to major in Business Administration or Agricultural Economics
Joyce and Jim Hill Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors from a Republic County, KS, high school
Johnson-Granstedt Memorial Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors in Republic County, KS, with preference to USD 426 students
The Lewis-Pruitt Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors from a Republic County, KS, high school
M.C. Hess and Margaret Hess Boyle Educational Fund for Republic County Memorial Scholarship
- For graduates or students in good standing for graduation from Republic County, Kansas. Preference shall be given to applicants from Narka, Munden, and Cuba areas, but it not a requirement
Scott Family Scholarship
- Graduating high school seniors in Republic County, KS, with preference to USD 109 students
Greater Salina Community Foundation:
Alma Olson & Michael T. Olson Scholarship
- Students attending or planning to attend Fort Hays Tech North Central (Beloit or Hays campus) pursuing a building trade degree
Coyne Family Scholarship
- First-generation college student whose parents are immigrants
Donald A. Smischny Educator Scholarship
- Kansas high school seniors, students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs, or current professionals pursuing a teaching career at USD 327 in Ellsworth, Kansas
Hale Family Sunflower Promise Scholarship
- Graduating community college students planning to attend a 4-year post-secondary institution in Kansas
Jody Fredrickson Nursing & Health Scholarship
- Graduating senior or graduate from a high school within the Dane G. Hansen Foundation service area, which is defined as the 26 counties in northwest Kansas north of I-70 and west of I-135/Hwy 81 who are pursuing a major in nursing or another health related field. Preference will be given to students who are a graduate of or who are qualified from Decatur Community High School- Oberlin, KS.
Kansas Federation of Republican Women Scholarship
- Any Kansas registered Republican female college student entering at least her junior year or that is attending graduate school at a Kansas college or university with a declared major of Political Science, History, Public Administration, Healthcare, Law or Education
Kurt Budke Scholarship
- Students entering their sophomore year or above in college who plan on attending Louisiana Tech University, Oklahoma State University, Washburn University, or Wichita State University.
Mary Olson & Viola Olson Gustafson Scholarship
- Students attending or planning to attend Cloud County Community College, Concordia, KS, to obtain a degree in nursing or a related medical field
Marcella Dowling Oakes Art Scholarship
- For students qualifying for graduation from a high school within the service area of GSCF or its affiliates with an intended major in an art field including, but not limited to visual arts, fine arts education, digital/graphic arts, architecture or design.
Orpha J. & Ernest Milbradt Scholarship
- Any Kansas graduating high school senior attending Kansas State University or the University of Kansas
Community Foundation for Cloud County:
Cloud Ceramics Masonry
- Students attending a post-secondary masonry or building trades program at a Vo-Tech, Technical College or Community College.
Solomon Valley Community Foundation:
Tom Lynch Educational Scholarship
- Graduates or graduating seniors from the following KS counties: Mitchell, Cloud, Jewell, Republic, Clay, Lincoln, Washington, Ottawa
